Products are the main piece of data in MYPOS that allows you to trade, products can be items for sale, modifiers or notes along with special MYPOS program functions, this article deals with adding standard items for sale
To begin with you will need to go to the MYPOS Portal at https://portal.myposconnect.com and sign in with your email address and password
Once you have logged in you will see several menu options on the left hand side of the Portal, select the "Data Setup" option and choose "Products" from the dropdown options that appear below
Here you will see a list of your products. To add a new product click “add new”
| Product Code (Unique Field) | 50 characters | Optional | an auto generated code will be created if this is left blank |

| Description | 50 Characters | Required | this is used as the display name of the product on screen |
| Receipt/Prep Description | 20 Characters | Optional | the system will auto generate a 20 character version of "description" if this field is left blank, this is used as the item name on the paper receipt |
| MenuText | 50 Characters | Optional | the system will use "description" for this field if left blank, this is used as the default item name on menu buttons |
| Tax Code | DropDown | Required | this will display all available Tax Codes from "TaxGroups" to choose from |
| Z Reporting Class | DropDown | Required | This is the Department or Classification of the product - this is a dropdown picker that will display all options from "Classifications" to choose from |
| Restrict It | DropDown | Optional | If you are selling an item that has an age restriction, i.e. alcohol, knives, then you can restrict it to a certain age, this brings a pop up box to prompt the server to check the customers age/ask for ID |
| Price01 | Numerical Value | Optional | this is the default price band used my most clientsCostOptional - this can be used to record the cost of the product |
Then when you have filled out all the information you want to add for your product click the blue “add” button at the bottom of the page to save the item, the item will save and you will be exited back out to the Products Listing Page
